Hey Ya'll (yes, I'm saying Ya'll now...)

I just wanted to send an encouraging word to you today. I know that you are busy- we are all busy. I know you have families and jobs and friends and husbands- who all think they need your FULL attention. I get that- I live that everyday!

This week I have been able to wake up before the kids- while it is still very quiet in the house. Drink my cup of coffee, and spend some much needed time with (I know you think I am going to say the Lord- or maybe my business...) MYSELF!

My day is busy from the moment Nolan cries to the moment Jason goes to bed... So those few precious moments- I've been taking for ME! Don't get me wrong- I still make time for the Lord and my business- but I needed some ME time.
So whatever that looks like for you... take a few moments- get a happy hour drink without the kids or walk around the block while your hubby tucks in the little ones- just go for a drive or sit and enjoy the quiet- but take a few minutes this week and CELEBRATE yourself! YOU are worth celebrating- each and everyone of you!

funny story of the week

Jason is such a good daddy! He is so concerned and worried and protective of our new son Charlie. Since we have been home, sleeping in our own bed, each night I have caught Jason at least once (up to 4 times a night) patting the pillow, shushing the pillow, and once attempting to swaddle his pillow.

He wakes up in a panic because he knows he's not suppose to have the baby in the bed.

He will sit straight up in bed (this is what woke me up the first time) and he'll say something, I asked him, do you have Charlie- he said I don't know.

I love it, he dreams about spending more time with Charlie!

Moral of the story- Jason is a good daddy, and loves Charlie a ton!

One week

We had a one week check up with little Mr. Charlie. He weighed 8 pounds even at the Dr's office- so he's not quite back to his birth weight- but he is in the 75 percentile for his age and weight.
He grew too... They measured him at 21 inches long (a whole inch and a half longer than the day he was born) I think most of this is just the differences in how nurses measure stuff. So that puts him in the 75 percentile for length also.
His head measured the same- 14, which is the 90th percentile.

So all in all we have a healthy growing baby boy!

Charlie Maddox Schneider was born Monday March 7, 2011 at 7:42am. 8 pounds 5 ounces- 19 1/2 inches long.
I was discharged from the hospital Wednesday afternoon, but Charlie had jaundice and had to stay another day in the billie jacket. That was a hard day. wanting to love on my boy, but being told repeatedly to only take him out to feed him and change his diaper.
Thursday morning his billirubin number was down to normal, but his weight had dropped significantly- more than 10%. He was down to 7 pounds 4 ounces- we were asked how committed we were to breast feeding- the pediatrician wanted us to supplement with formula. I was not excited about that thought- she let us go home, with instructions to pump and measure what I was feeding him- and to feed him with a syringe.
Thursday afternoon- my milk came in!!! (sorry if this is too much information- but it was exciting, after being made to feel like a bad mother for letting my baby lose too much weight.)
We had an appointment with the Dr to get Charlie weighed the next day- Friday morning, to make sure we weren't losing more weight. Charlie weighted 7 pound 14 ounces! He gained 10 ounces in one day! The lack of stress from being out of the hospital, and my milk coming in, and tons of prayers- our baby boy has surpassed his birth weight! :) Saturday evening we weighed him at home (not as accurate as drs scales- but close) and he weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces.
He has a Dr's appointment tomorrow, so I will post an official weight, but we were super excited!
